  • What constitutes a small website - and how much does one cost?

For purposes of pricing a site, we refer to a small site as a collection of eight or fewer pages. The main pages could consist of Home, About Us, a Service page, and Contact Us. The site would have an interactive navigation bar (mouse rollovers), and the Home page would be static with images. Additional charges borne by the client would include annual fees for hosting ($120/year), more than two licensed images per page, and if you require more than a half dozen email addresses. This site is an example of a small website. The cost per page for a fully responsive site is $300.00.

Our hourly rate, outside the scope of creating a new website, is $120.00 per hour, billed in ten minute increments.

  • Will my site work on mobile devices?

Yes, using responsive design, we ensure our sites work on all devices, including desktops, laptops, tablets and mobile devices.

  • What is a Content Management System (CMS)?

A content management system (CMS) enables you to maintain the content on your website without any additional software our technical skill. When using a CMS, you can add new pages, upload images and be in full control of your site - all you need is a web browser and an internet connection.

  • Can you build us a dual-language website?

Yes, absolutely! The effectiveness of your website in enticing potential customers is more important than ever. If an increasingly larger proportion of your customers/clients speak a language other than English, it makes sense to present your information to them in their native language. Your website is often the first point of contact with your business, so getting this right is critical when it comes to building a longstanding relationship with your customers and developing a high degree of brand loyalty.

There are basically two options when it comes to dual-language websites: relying on a translation service such as Google Translate, or designing a website in two languages. We have experience in both models and would be happy to discuss both options with you. For an example of the latter, please see this site that we designed for a Gainesville-based attorney: David Kennedy & Associates

  • How long is a page?

In most cases, a page should scroll no more than two to three times the height of the browser window. Many visitors won't scroll down a page, and information "below the fold" or out of view when first loaded may never be seen. A page should also not be weighted down with content that is slow to load over a phone connection.

  • How do I find a place to put my website?

MediaPressions offers reliable web hosting services that includes the SSL Certificate your site needs in order to be secure (HTTPS), email, unlimited MySQL databases, 2 GB RAM and 2 CPUs. Plus, you'll have the comfort of knowing that your web designer is also keeping an eye on your site's performance. All for just $120.00 per year. And, unlike the competition, we don't jack the rates up after the first year. At the end of the year, if you are happy - we are happy....and the price remains $120.00 per year.*
*With inflation running rampant, this could be subject to change slightly in the future. But, we don't anticipate any big increases. Our price has remained at $120.00 per year since 2015.

  • I already have a website - can you just add to it?

There are most likely considerable differences between the pages you already have and the site you desire. Generally, it's quicker for us to create your new site from scratch than it is to rewrite code from your old site.

Our hourly rate, outside the scope of creating a new website, is $120.00 per hour, billed in ten minute increments.

  • How do I obtain my own web-name (i.e., my_name.com)?

A business domain name is often in the form of www.MyName.com. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) manages and coordinates the Domain Name System (DNS). They ensure that every address is valid, and they oversee the distribution of Domain Names (and associated IP Addresses). We are happy to assist you in choosing your Domain Name - and getting it registered with ICANN.

  • I own my own digital camera, can I send you digital images?

In a word, yes. However, we will most likely edit the images in order to obtain the best color balance and to speed the process of loading in browsers. We will compress the images to reduce the number of colors and/or pixels per inch to reduce the files size of the images. This process can greatly increase the speed with which your pages load - which is important in order to keep people from "clicking off."

  • How much would it cost to add a Shopping Cart to my site?

Depending upon your requirements, shopping cart programs vary from free to very expensive. We'll be happy to assess your needs and then make recommendations of e-commerce vendors who best suit your needs.

Our hourly rate, outside the scope of creating a new website, is $120.00 per hour, billed in ten minute increments.

  • Once my site is created on the Internet, why would I need to update it?

In order to encourage return visitors, your website must be updated from time to time. In addition, search engines take into account how often a website's content is refreshed. Stale sites sink in search results.

  • How do the search engines find my site?

The Internet now supports millions of websites, and each search engine has its own rules for how it collects data about your site. To make matters more confusing, these rules change often. As sites are created and submitted to search engines, the engines will either index the site immediately...or it could take up to several months depending upon the waiting list. If you wait for the search engines to find you, you'll be missing out on potential hits. So, we will submit your site to the search engines at no additional charge.

  • How long does it take to see results from SEO?

Although some results can be gained in weeks, most SEO strategies take MONTHS to see the benefit. Google wants these efforts to take time. Optimization is not a quick process - a successful campaign can be judged on months, if not years. Progress depends upon many factors.

How old is your site compared to the top 10 sites?
How good of a resource is your site?
How much unique content does your site contain?
How long do people spend on your site - and how many pages do they view?
How many positive reviews do you have (Google My Business / Facebook / etc.)?
    Is your website relevant?
Is your website written naturally - or is it stuffed with keywords, spammy links, etc?

It is in Google's best interest to rank the "best" sites at the top of their results - it ensures people are happy with the results, and keeps them coming back to Google. Build a great website with relative content, and the results will follow. Even if it takes longer than you expect or desire.

I was not sure who to contact for a web designer and it was my first time ever to have an actual website. And let me say that I contacted 2 other companies before Dave and they were absolutely rude and wanted to grab my information right then and there and I felt so pressured and they didn’t walked me through before grabbing my information. And they asked me questions that I didn’t know what to say because again I was new at this and wasn’t sure where to start or what I needed. When I contacted Media Pressions Dave was very informative. He made me feel super comfortable on asking questions over the phone. We met in person as well and he was so nice and patient with all my questions and he advised me so many information that I didn’t even knew I needed to know. He walked me through everything and he was fast to respond as well either text , email, or phone call. He also suggested other things like improvement for my website which not everyone does & I really loved the fact that he suggested; because of that I fell in love with my website. My website is so easy to navigate and once my website went on live I had my first actual customer the following day!!! I was super shocked and it was a big painting project! I am super glad that I contacted Dave! I highly recommend him! Thank you Dave for all of your hard work! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
